In 1974, Brett began working as a stonemason’s laborer and started carpentry courses at night school to enrich his God-given talents. He obtained employment in the Doylestown area building new homes, until his next opportunity arose in union work with a large contracting firm in Philadelphia. Two years later and for half the salary, Brett left for a small company in Bucks County to follow his desire to remodel homes, valuing quality work and personal fulfillment over a large income. He developed his skills daily, and continued a night school education. Brett aspired to embrace the full responsibility of his own business. He prayed for an opportunity, and in 1982 established his own business when God made it clear He would faithfully provide. A smooth transition took place, and the business has grown steadily.

Brett is dedicated to authenticity, innovation, and excellence. The company is based on God-honoring principles as the cornerstone, instituted upon the verse, “Building upon a solid foundation” (Luke 6:47-49)

Contractor of the year (CoTY) awards are given annually by the National Association of Remodeling (NARI) to members who demonstrate outstanding remodeling work. These awards are widely considered the premier competition in the remodeling industry. Impartial judges, experts in remodeling, select winners based on ‘before and after’ photography and project description. The categories include problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, and innovation. Brett King Builder has been awarded the CotY annually since 1996, in multiple categories.
